John Meade
Veteran Service Officer (VSO)

John Meade joined the US Army right after high school in 1985. He served his first four years of active duty in the 82nd Airborne Division and advanced to the rank of Sergeant as an Airborne Infantry Team Leader. He then used the GI Bill to go to college and graduated from Northeastern Illinois University.

John was a Staff Sergeant in the Illinois Army National Guard when he went to Warrant Officer and Flight School, first flying the UH 1 Huey before transitioning into flying the UH 60 Black Hawk. In 2004, he was deployed to Iraq for a year in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. John proudly held 10 different ranks in 3 different MOS’s before retiring in 2007 as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. CW3 Meade’s military awards and achievements include the Air Medal, Senior Army Aviator Wings, Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Action Badge, and Airborne Wings.

John was also an Investigator for the State of Illinois for 29 years. John is married to his wonderful wife Rosa and is the very proud father of his two sons David and Danny.
